IMPORTANT If you are renting a car from Sydney or Canberra Airport; make sure they rent you a car that can take chains. Check the manual just incase.
Do I need Chains?
2WD car = YES you need to carry chains (fines are >$300)
4WD or AWD car = No, legally you do not need to carry chains however in some situations you may need chains to get through the snow.
